# Ethereum

Ethereum is a blockchain that allows you to create new tokens and decentralized applications. “Ethereum is a technology for building apps and organizations, holding assets, transacting and communicating without being controlled by a central authority. There is no need to hand over all your personal details to use Ethereum - you keep control of your own data and what is being shared. Ethereum has its own cryptocurrency, Ether, which is used to pay for certain activities on the Ethereum network.”

#### How is Ethereum relevant to the Network State movement?

Ethereum is the second largest blockchain in the world, host to over a hundred billion USD in market value and many projects. Some Network State movement projects may choose to build on Ethereum. Network State projects on Ethereum will eventually be able to access Jur with a bridge from Polkadot to Ethereum.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://gitbook.jur.io/wiki-network-state/dictionary/blockchain/ethereum.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
