# What Do You Need To Start?

## Vision

A vision is the starting point to unite a community around common principles. The vision could refer to a specific social problem or a general one. For example, it could be to build a Vegan City or Vegan Country in which the entire economy respects vegan principles.

If you're interested in creating your own society a good starting point would be to work out an outline on the [Lean Society Canvas](/founders-handbook/toolkit/lean-society-canvas.md) to define the overall purpose of your society in detail.
